The 2021 South West Bike Trek

After huge success in previous years, Western Australia’s premier charity bike ride, the South West Bike Trek, is back for its 21st year, with riders set to make the epic 600km journey from Perth to Augusta and raise vital funds for the Children’s Leukaemia & Cancer Research Foundation (CLCRF).

Last year the South West Bike Trek introduced a virtual charity bike ride, encouraging people around Australia to take part from wherever they are, all to help fund childhood cancer research. Participants can clock up their bike ride in their own time and at their own pace, commencing their preferred distance from Thursday 1 September and completing their kms by Sunday 16 October, 2022.

The Live Ride

This year’s live bike trek will begin on Sunday 9 October from Sir James Mitchell Park, South Perth Foreshore with riders travelling across some of the most spectacular roads in WA before winding up in Augusta on Saturday 15 October.

The South West Bike Trek is the biggest fundraising event for CLCRF and since it started in 2002, has raised over $810,000 for the Foundation. The group of friends that started the bike ride in 2002 were directly impacted with kids or family and friends’ kids diagnosed with childhood cancer. This was a way they could not only highlight the importance of research for a cure but a way to fundraise to support the research. Some of these riders have been riding this trek since it started.

The trek is conducted at a leisurely pace with riders encouraged to work together to ensure each other’s well-being.  Some level of fitness is required if riding the whole trek, but you can also take part in just a day of riding with the team. You can arrange to ride certain days and legs to suit you.

Check out the ride schedule to see which days you’d like to participate in. If you want to have a great cycling experience and explore the beautiful South West region at a leisurely pace, while raising money for child cancer research, register now!
